Chapter two, The Magician’s Nephew

In chapter one, Digory tried to warn Polly not to touch any of the rings – he had seen a look in his uncle’s eyes that he didn’t trust. (13) In chapter two, Digory learned that his uncle had planned to entrap both Digory and Polly from the start. (24)

When he finally heard of Polly’s predicament, Digory agreed to help her get back. But he told his Uncle he expected his uncle would face the consequences of his scheming. (24)

Uncle Andrew said that no great wisdom can be attained without sacrifice. But he tried to arrange his experiments so he wasn’t the person making the sacrifices.
