Questions and Answers about the Red Cloud Film Club
How much does it cost to see a movie?
Family memberships for the Red Cloud Film Club are only $1 for the month of March. If you have a family membership, everyone in your family can see any movie in March for free.
What will it cost in April?
It’ll be shockingly reasonable.
Why don’t you just charge admission?
The lawyers who let us show films won’t let us charge admission. They require us to be set up differently than a regular theater.
Why don’t you announce the films coming up?
We do! But we’re only allowed to announce the names of the great movies we show to people who subscribe to our weekly email or to people who ask. Sign up for our weekly email and you can hear all about upcoming shows. Write to RedCloudFilmClub@gmail.com
What kind of movies do you show?
We’re experimenting. Right now, we’re showing comedies on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Animated films are on Saturdays at 2 p.m.
Action/adventure films are on Saturdays at 7 p.m.
How do you pick your movies?
Comedies are selected from a list of top comedies from the last 100 years.
The animated films mostly come from the last 20 years, although some older classics will also be shown.
The action / adventure films come from a list of movies that have been popular at the box office. These films often include dragons, dinosaurs, spies or superheroes. If lots of people went to see the movie, we’ll probably eventually show it.
Are there other theaters like the Film Club?
Theaters that show great movies from the past used to be far more common. But it’s gotten much harder to get a license to show films this way. Fortunately, we were able to.
Where do you show the films?
The Film Club meets at the Mark Dahle Art Gallery, 333 N. Webster St. in Red Cloud.
What should I do next?
The best thing you can do is sign up for our weekly email so you know what movies are being shown. Write to RedCloudFilmClub@gmail.com. Or drop by the gallery 30 minutes before any show and pick up a schedule for the week.
