Mark Dahle's tips for visiting ArtPrize Dallas

ArtPrize is an art competition created by Rick DeVos. It has been held annually in Grand Rapids, MI, since 2009. A second edition of ArtPrize was scheduled to open in Dallas in April 2016, but the Dallas organizers have cancelled that event.

The Grand Rapids event attracts more than 400,000 visitors to see 1500+ artworks in more than 170 venues. Artists from around the world exhibit, drawn to the $500,000+ prize pool which includes two grand prizes of $200,000 each.

The Dallas version had the potential of having a much larger attendance, given the larger population of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. But Dallas organizers could not find enough funding.

ArtPrize may work with Dallas or another community at some point in the future, but for now the event is only in one community: Grand Rapids, MI. See our report for tips in going to Artprize in Grand Rapids, MI.
